The Nominating Committee has the yearly responsibility to present to the congregation a slate of nominees for election to the vacant positions on Session [Elders], the Board of Deacons and the Nominating Committee. In addition the Nominating Committee presents to Session a slate of nominees for election to the vacant positions of Committee Chair.
The responsibilities and composition of the Nominating Committee are defined by the Presbyterian Church (USA) Book of Order and WPC's By-Laws. The committee is comprised of 8 members:
- 3 at-large members elected by the congregation;
- 1 member, with Committee Chair experience, elected by the congregation;
- 1 member, a currently serving Deacon, appointed by the Board of Deacons;
- 2 members, Elders, appointed by Session (one must be a currently serving Elder);
- The Pastor, serving in an ex officio capacity (voice but no vote).
The, Session appointed, currently serving Elder serves as the Nominating Committee's Chair. The 2012 Nominating Committee Members: Dee Fairbanks (Chair), Stephanie Hankey (Pastor), Harry Chandler, Sherry Chavers, Joan Fossum, Bill French, Lynn Koontz, and Cora Rolfe.
Those in the congregation who are interested in serving as an Elder, Deacon, Committee Chair or Member of the Nominating Committee should make themselves known to a current member of the Nominating Committee.
