Gillian4Gillian Westerman was born in Grand Rapids, MI and grew up in Petoskey, MI a small harbor town on Little Traverse Bay.  She was raised in the United Methodist Church where her father was choir director.  She was extremely involved in music and youth ministries as a child and young adult and came to accept Christ as personal Lord and Savior during her freshman year of high school.  She received her Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance from Central Michigan University in 2004 and went on to complete a Masters of Music with an emphasis in Opera Performance at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville) in 2006.

During her time at the University of Tennessee she was a part of many performances by the Knoxville Opera Company and was a paid soloist and choir section leader at Church Street United Methodist Church in downtown Knoxville.  After graduate school Ms. Westerman taught Music Appreciation and private voice at Pellissippi State Community College and directed the Chancel Choir at Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Throughout her life Gillian has been an active part of the music ministries wherever she's worshiped and has experience with, and passion for, both traditional and contemporary musical styles.  She is comfortable singing in many vocal styles and enjoys accompanying herself on the piano for certain performances.

Gillian is thrilled to be at WPC and is looking forward to delving into the music and drama ministries.  She feels strongly that God has been leading her to a career within His church and is excited to be able to focus her energies toward helping to enhance worship for others through music, drama, and art.
