Sunday School - Children/Youth

Sunday School in person will be back in person starting

the 2022/2023 School Year

Sunday school (ages 3-5th grade) are held during the school year at 9-9:50am, in the Discovery House.

Preschool children, ages 3 until they enter Kindergarten, will be in classroom 6. We have an amazing Preschool teacher named Mary Anne who teaches a Montessori type lesson using Frolic curriculum to teach the Bible in an age-appropriate way. Children in preschool are allowed to stay in their classroom during worship service for some playtime and snack.

For Elementary students (grade K-5th) Sunday School begins each week with a whole group presentation in Classroom #4 and then move to mixed-age groups. Through Bible study, skits, music, craft projects, and games, children can learn and develop a relationship with Jesus. We are using HighPoint Curriculum where for five-week sessions, children learn about a different country and a life skill that helps them further their faith.  We also incorporate We Choose Virtues to teach Children how to demonstrate character. Children and youth are not only encouraged to know the stories and people of the Bible, but they are also encouraged to discover their own faith and apply biblical teaching to their own lives. Children bring home a boarding pass each week to facilitate conversations at home and apply Sunday School lessons to daily life.

At WPC we want to encourage our youth to have rolls of leadership in the life of our congregation. Youth leaders can go through CAPP training and be Sunday School teachers and assistants to help the younger students during the Highpoint Sunday School. This provides them with leadership skills, a sense of servanthood, and a refresher course in some Bible stories they may or may not be familiar with. We find this terrific way to transition Middle School students.

We would love High School students to participate in Adult Sunday School in the Fellowship Hall or join our worship team!

Every odd year, students are taught Confirmation Classes during Sunday School time if they choose to attend. Confirmation normally begins in January and ends in May. We use the Big God, Big Questions curriculum. Confirmation classes are for any students 7th grade thru 12th grade that want to learn about faith and if they want to confirm that is their beliefs for themselves. Once a youth finishes confirmation class, chooses to confirm their faith, and is baptized they can be members of WPC.

Next Confirmation Class will be January 2024
