As Christians we realize that everything we have is a gift from a loving God. This not only includes our material and financial resources but also our time, talents, and all our other gifts. In gratitude we are free to generously share these gifts in the furtherance of God's Kingdom. It is the role of the Stewardship Committee to remind and encourage church members and friends to live into this reality and facilitate them in using their gifts in the planned ministry of the church.

Specific responsibilities of the committee include:

  1. Organizing the annual financial pledge drive supporting the Ministry Budget of the congregation.
  2. As part of the pledge drive promote participation in the Per Capita offering as a way to support the work of the Church at the Presbytery and National levels.
  3. Encouraging the filling out and use of Time and Talent forms to aid matching skills and interest with volunteer opportunities.
  4. Supporting and coordinating the four special offerings received each year (One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peacemaking, and Christmas Joy).
  5. Guiding committees and Session through the annual budgeting process.
The committee supports a number of additional gifting opportunities to accommodate the special preferences of donors. Westminster is able to handle the gifting of stocks and securities. An Endowment Fund has been established for those interested in supporting the mission of Westminster in perpetuity. Also, the committee maintains a list of ministry/gifting opportunities for special needs not funded by the Ministry Budget.
  6. Overseeing the yearly outside annual financial review of the church's books and assures compliance with the policies and procedures.
  7. Developing, updating, and implementing of the Accounting/Financial Policies and Procedures.
  8. Making recommendations to Session on the short term and long term investment strategy of the church's funds.
  9. Overseeing the weekly counting of income, the reconciliation of church checking, savings and brokerage accounts and the Financial Reserve Account.

The Church Treasurer reports to the Stewardship Committee Chair.
